No Palin for Seattle

Sudden celeb Sarah Palin, John McCain's Vice Presidential pick, has canceled a scheduled appearance next week in Seattle. Palin was the guest of honor (see: big money draw) at a fundraiser set for the 24th, but she won't be attending due to 'scheduling conflicts.' Palin will likely be in Michigan or some other swing state stumping for McCain. Since you won't be able to see the Tina Fey look-a-like in the flesh, we leave you this: the Sarah Palin baby name generator. If Sarah Palin was your mom what would your name be? Henceforth, we'd like to be called by our Alaskan name, Charcoal Sniper Palin.

Thought I'd just step in here from the cold for a moment and catch up on what you big meanies were saying about dear old Mom.

  • Hey-- Sarah Palin Fan... where are you?? Afraid after you read some history?

    Makes sense.

  • boycottpalindotcom

Please come to our 9/24 HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY rally at Westlake Park - to protest McCain camp lies!

    Rally details:

    http://www.aphrodaia.com/2008/09/honesty-is-best-policy-rally.html

Sarah might be back - she was UNINVITED to the U.N. rally that she was going to attend in NY.

    Please pass on!

  • kitty wu

    oh geez @ 21.

  • Abbey

What exactly would you be celebrating Sarah Palin Fan?

The rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer?

Unfettered Capitalism? I'm sure WaMu will tell you it worked just great for them.

Creation stories being told as science? Pharmacists refusing to give medicine for religious beliefs?

Sounds like a hell of a thing to celebrate.

  • Sarah Palin Fan, also, come to the happy hour next month (you know, when you may have researched) and let's talk. I'll have some fun with... I dunno, facts and stuff.

  • All-- she's been canceling fundraisers in a lot of places, most recently California.

So no, it's not "us" it's her.

And SarahPalinFan, she's not a fighter of corruption, look at the nearly 6 million dollars of fed. monies she earmarked for lil' Wasalla. It's under investigation... hmmmm

Not saying Obama is perfect, but please do the research. She doesn't know much about politics. Fast learning aside, I don't want someone at square one to learn while sitting next to the button.

  • sarahpalinfan

Ahh, go ahead and grumble all you want. When Rossi gets RE-ELECTED by blow out numbers now that Sam Reed has all the dead people off the roles, the people on the RIGHT side of things will be celebrating.

But as if that's not a big enough blow to the haters, it's really gonna hurt them when John and Sarah are running this country! I'm so excited.

So whine, gripe, and hate cause that's your right. Just know, I'll be celebrating with all the GOP folks!!

  • eventer266

Rossi has been trying to distance himself from his party as much as possible - including running as GOP instead of Republican (are the voters really that naive??). He knows he can't win in WA if he's associated with the Old Order, and he's very much tried to associate himself with Obama. No way would a Palin appearance with him have helped with the voters he needs. At the same time...I sure don't want to see him win!

So, she was supposed to appear at a Rossi fundraiser? Anybody have any ideas as to how that's been selling?

Just curious as to whether she bowed out due to "scheduling commitments", which sounds like total B.S., or rather, because the McPalin campaign suddenly realized the event wasn't drawing big numbers - such a surprise for "liberal" Seattle - and decided not to embarrass themselves by putting her in front of a sparse crowd.

And yes, @21, we're just as tolerant of other people's political view here in Seattle as the GOP is when they schedule "public town halls" by invitation-only...

This is much more good clean fun than the shite storm we got going on over at Gawker.

  • herbisara

Oh nice! My husband's name would be Scat Dubya. That's hilarious!

  • Brad

    RE: "AWESOME Sarah Palin"

I'd be happy with just a decent president. Can we just start there?

  • Jack

    @21: Hilarious!

  • sarahpalinfan

You can bet Sarah Palin is not afraid of any protesters. She is one strong woman, she has taken on corruption and won. But I can see how people get so riled up about her, after all she believes in really crazy stuff, like innocent babies should have the right to life--how dare her think of such a horrific thing! The media hates her, Obama/Biden had the wind taken out of their sails, and the liberals are outraged by her. All I can say is, with all those sources against her, she is some kind of AWESOME!! Go Sarah.

  • Abbey

    You were right jessejb!

  • misstake

Protests are not intolerant; people who want them to go away are. And "free exchange" doesn't mean that Gov Palin can say whatever she wants without opposition.

The protests will likely still go on-- the ones I am aware of were organized not in opposition to Palin herself, but to the negativity of the McCain/Pain campaign.

  • Brad

I think this also might give an indication that Rossi isn't polling well, and Palin's political capital is better spent in a state where they have a chance of winning.

    Works for me.

  • Charles Redell

Just call me Mullet Troll Palin

    MT to my friends.

  • Kim Ruehl

my mother gets the most badass palin name of all: Icepick Motor Palin. don't mess with her!

  • Kim Ruehl

Flag Cobra Palin. You can call me FlagCoPa.

  • Katelyn

Rink Rebate Palin here! This is a FUN GAME.

  • Jack

Also, my name is now Geese Whalebone Palin.

  • Jack

What are you saying, Joe Loe? That people shouldn't protest her appearance? That a protest would somehow thwart the "free exchange of ideas"?

Seems to me that an organized protest is an important part of the free exchange of ideas--so long as the subject (in this case, Palin) is allowed to speak.

  • jessejb

    My prediction:

This thread to be 'most commented' within 12 hours.

  • Abbey

    Joe Biden: Engine Nighthawk Palin

    Barack Obama: Churn Scorpion Palin

  • ruffhauser

Seattle has always shown great tolerance for those with the same opinion.

  • Joe Loe

Yay for the threat of massive protests shutting down the free exchange of ideas! That's the Seattle way since WTO (not really a Democratic way, but whatevs).

  • jessejb

Shes the only reason I went from 5% likely to 0% likely to vote McCain.

  • Abbey

Thanks for the heads up Brad. I was thinking that organization and protests likely had something to do with the cancellation, as well.

  • Brad

I think the visit was canceled due to the enormous protests that were being prepared. The event was announced 24 hours ago, and yesterday I received at least 4 invitations to protest rallies, all of which seemed pretty well organized.

  • Abbey

If Sarah Palin named herself, according to the name generator she would be: Plop Hero Palin

George W. Bush would be: Open Aircraft Palin

Dick Cheney would be: Tank Dent Palin

and her running mate, John McCain would be known as: Revolver Trooper Palin

  • fdg

    Skunk Grunt Palin.

Not bad. It's like a 1st grade sentence.

  • jessejb

    Flack Gobbler Palin

    dammit.

  • MvB

I'm Stake Shed Palin! Probably I'd go by my middle name.
