We Remember because They're Our Families

It's been a strange, often infuriating seven years since the attacks of September 11, 2001. From the day when our collective psyche was utterly shocked, to today's dulled memory pains, wars have been waged, more thousands of lives lost. Laws drafted, laws broken. Patriotism redefined in terms of ribbons and flag pins. Men and women politicizing the day for personal gain. Sad, ridiculous conspiracy theorists claiming it was an inside job.

For today, let's please set the noise aside. Set it aside and remember that a lot of innocent people were killed.

Tomorrow we can all get back to work. Back to whatever great or small thing we can do to fix this. Back to doing the right thing instead of the reactionary thing.

  • Don't even get me started on their coverage of Octopi and tapeworms.

Troy, that is what the media does. If you fear something, the media in all its forms will exploit that.

  • Maybe it was because I was off grid most of the day, but may I just say that I am thankful I was not bombarded with rhetoric designed to fill me with fear for the first September 11th in 7 years?

We were there and watched the entire horror form our office windows
