Back at the end of July, on the last day of Jeopardy!'s 24th season, local contestant Emily Thorsley dethroned a five-day champion and took the crown. And she's technically had it since then, because Jeopardy! has been running reruns and special tournaments during the summer break.
This evening, however, season 25 begins, and we get to find out if Thorsley can turn her win into a streak. Having played pub trivia against her many times, we know she's a formidable opponent, one who manages to know a lot of stuff about a broad range of topics. We won't be surprised if she becomes this season's Larissa Kelly ... though the next Ken Jennings might be a bit much to ask.
You can catch today's Jeopardy! on KOMO 4 at 7:30pm. But you can watch her "hometown howdy" right now. (Sorry a direct link isn't available. She's the leftmost contestant, bottom row.)
Whether or not she's still the reigning champion, you can extend your congratulations, buy her a beer, or just let her pick your brain tomorrow night when she and her husband David host the quiz at Ballard's Old Pequliar pub. We'll be there, somewhat grateful that one of our primary opponents is asking the questions rather than answering them.
