It's not like the GOP has been absent from the news lately, with the RNC in full swing and the swirls of controversy surrounding Gov. GrandMama Palin. Still, we're surprised the blogosphere hasn't gone crazy over the vandalism of the Republican Party's booth at Bumbershoot this weekend. According to a vaguely-worded press release from the King County Republican Party, their booth was closed on Sunday when "unidentified individuals" broke in, upset the pamphlet table, and lit on fire parts of the display.
If we were feeling snarky, we'd say it serves them right: after all, the vandalism of the booth is a mini-version of what the GOP leadership has done to the United States' image overseas in the past eight years, right? Poetic justice! But something about setting things on fire in the middle of a notoriously crowded festival strikes us as...well...inexcusably dangerous and short-sighted, even if what you're setting on fire symbolizes foreign and domestic policy of which you are very, very tired after eight years.
Way to make the left look responsible and mature, vandals! You owe some hard-working Republican volunteers some $8 Bumbershoot beers.

So terrorizing housewifes and student volunteers is OK if you disagree with their politics?
Sometimes the ignorance on this website is stunning, especially from people who consider themselves "progressive".
I ended my commentary on the note that it is not okay, even if you disagree with politics, because it is dangerous and short-sighted. Though I certainly understand the urge.
Thanks for commenting :)
Um, ruffhauser, Katelyn's post is saying this vandalism is bad, mmmkay? I am stunned by your ignorance with regards to reading comprehension and the proper pluralization of "wife."
The plural of 'housewife' in this instance is "houseMILFs," although some prefer the honorific VPiLF. Personally I'm going to keep some distance, because I prefer to think of 'shotgun weddings' as antiquated social customs that went extinct decades ago.
the vandalism happened late in the night, sometime after the stadium show let out and before all the people had left the grounds. It was not crowded at the time. Not that this makes it ok (fire is dangerous and destroying others' property--even the republicans'--is not okay) but thought I'd mention this.
Good to know, Charles! The press release wasn't super clear on the timing, and then the photo was in the daytime. Citizen journalism ftw.
It could've happened in broad daylight, for all the traffic those guys were seeing. We went past the booth around 2pm and there was nary a soul to be found, Republican or otherwise.
I walked past the Center on Broad today and it's fucking trashed.
That's not very Seattle, nor very great of the organizers to not clean up.
The crows loved it, but crows are dirty bastards of aviary.
Did they pull the Ws off the keyboards as well? I'm sorry, but the GOP has a history of making up these kinds of stories just so they can see themselves as victims. So, I'm not necessarily buying it.
