If you're unfamiliar, allow us to introduce you to Laura Gibson—one of the best singer-songwriters coming out of the ever-vibrant Portland singer-songwriter scene. Granted, "vibrant" is not a word we'd use to describe Gibson's work. In fact, we suggest you nap a bit on Sunday afternoon before you head out to the Tractor, because she could sing you into the happiest of bar naps if you're not careful.
Her voice is incredibly soothing and her songs are incredibly sentimental, sensitive excerpts of emotion. Last we saw her, she was on a stage in the middle of the woods at Pickathon, just as the mid-day sun was rearing its face and filtering through a thousand tiny leaves. That was kind of the most perfect place in the world to watch Laura Gibson do her thing. But if you didn't make it to Pickathon this year, the Tractor's as good a place as any. Here she is at Mississippi Studios:
Alela Diane and Barton Carroll will be rounding out the evening. The former is a California-based singer-songwriter whose voice will give you dreams, whereas the latter will roll right in and wake you the fuck up. What else could you possibly need out of a night of music? Consider that's $3.33 per folksinger. A bargain, if you ask us.
