There are 10 weeks until Election Day, and 10 issues in our state's gubernatorial race (11 if you count Eastern Washington's concerns). Each week we'll be taking an award-winning look at where the candidates stand.

We are about to take off on vacation, and, well, we wanna get out of here. So this is going to happen lightning-round style.

Abortion:
Rossi: Anti.
Gregoire: Pro.

Taxes:
Gregoire: For the rich only.
Rossi: None at all, ever.

Peaches:
Rossi: Pro.
Gregoire: Prefers nectarines.

I prefer Reproductive Rights because it covers more than just abortion, but I agree that abortion rights is definitely fair.

You're right. A fair title would be Abortion Rights.

On another note, I just returned from a trip to the mysterious east (Washington, that is). While there were certainly a ton of Rossi signs, there were more Obama and Gregoire than you might think.

I spent a year in eastern WA one weekend, and the polarization was palpable. Otherwise rational people seemed to believe that Seattle exists only to hoover up their tax money and make all their decisions for them.

I tried to point out that Seattle can't even make its OWN decisions, let alone anyone else's, but that comment didn't seem to fly.

I just recently returned to Seattle from Lake Chelan, and saw several 'Dino Rossi: Don't Let Seattle Steal the Election!' signs.

The official position is:
"Those are not official Dino Rossi for Governor campaign signs," [Jill Strait, Rossi's spokeswoman,] wrote. "We had nothing to do with creating them, and we don't agree with their message. We do not believe that Seattle -- or anyone else -- will steal this election."

Nevertheless, the sentiments of many of our eastern neighbors are quite clear...

Actually I appreciate that comment..I had no idea there was a difference. I always just said pro-abortion, anti-abortion. why sugarcoat either side?

But now I know.

I realize semantics aren't as important to most people as they are to me, but Gregoire isn't actually just pro-abortion - she's pro-choice, which includes working really hard to reduce unwanted pregnancies from even happening in the first place through the use of contraceptives (which actually lowers abortion rates), and Rossi isn't just anti-abortion, he's anti-choice, which includes not supporting contraceptive use, which actually leads to the need for more abortions, not less.
