Can't Miss It: Wednesday
TALKING ABOUT SPACE: Portland, Maine artist, Anna Hepler, gives a talk at the Henry Art Gallery about her current piece, Arrest, Array. Arrest, Array is showing at Bellevue's hippest contemporary art space, Open Satellite. Hepler's work uses small pieces to create a complex and huge geometric whole that invites interaction and changes as we move around it. Hepler's art is for the math nerds and lovers of beauty.
7:00 p.m. // The Henry Art Gallery Auditorium, West Edge of the UW campus on 15th Avenue NE // Free
FREE COOKIES: Delicious Belltown bakery Macrina celebrates its 15th anniversary with free cookies and $2.15 Giuseppe bread! Macrina, modeled after an old-world bakery, uses natural, local products and works to enhance the natural flavors of the ingredients, rather than covering up the flavors by adding tons of sugar. Long live Macrina! Delicious.
All day // Macrina Bakery, three locations // Free cookies, $2.15 for Giuseppe bread
CANADIAN ROCKER SLANG: The Canadian band "The Wicked Awesomes" are adorable and have the added cuteness of being Canadian. Don't be fooled though, their blend of new wave and punk makes them sound like they couldn't care less what you think. Show up and pretend you're in high school and that you're attending a show in their basement. Endangered Ape, the Femurs, and the Freehands open.
9:30 p.m. // Funhouse, 206 Fifth Avenue North // $5
