Can't Miss It: Monday

kungfu.jpgDRUNKEN MASTER: Back in college, we had one wild night that involved too much beer, too much tequila, too much KFC, watching Jackie Chan's Drunken Master II, and ended with someone attacking a drug dealer with chicken bones. Craziness! Now you too can have that experience thanks to the good people at Kung Fu Grindhouse. Tonight, they're taking over the Sunset Tavern in Ballard starting at 7 for a marathon showing of three classic kung fu movies: Fist of Legend, Evil Alien, and Amazons vs. Supermen.

7 p.m. // 5433 Ballard Avenue // free admission // 21+

COLD READING: Concerned your acting career isn't going anywhere? Been to a million auditions but never get a call-back? Maybe it's your monologue. And that's where Pamela Sackett comes in: a local playwright and teacher, Sackett's offering what's basically a workshop tonight down at Elliott Bay Books. Her new book is Two Minutes to Shine: Book 5, a book of original audition monologues. A number of Seattle actor/performers will be on hand at Elliott Bay to read from them, so it's like a free audition lesson from the people who made it big in Seattle.

7:30 p.m. // Elliott Bay Books, 101 S. Main // $5 suggested donation

GO FRENCH?: Let's face it, it's a slow Monday and hard to find things to call out. You could French it up by checking out Vivre Sa Vie, the latest installment in the Godard series down at SIFF (8 p.m., $10), or you could check out French graphic novelists on display for another week or so down at Fantagraphics. Or you could find something totally not French. We don't know, we're all out of ideas.
