Can't Miss It: Weekend Edition, August 22-24

THE LAKE IS CELEBRATING: Summer is when neighborhood pride reaches its zenith here in Seattle, and Lake Union is no exception. LUFest, a festival including a pet parade, live music (Harvey Danger! Local funksters The Staxx Brothers!), and food, happens this Saturday, and we recommend you head down there to experience some classic fun in the sun. To repeat: Harvey Danger will be there.
10 a.m. - 10 p.m., Sat. // Lake Union, 2500 Franklin Ave E // $5 // All Ages
CLAM CONSUMPTION CONTEST: Are you extremely good at eating clams? Do you think you could beat, say, another person at clam-eating? Atlas Foods hosts a Chow Foods clam-eating contest this weekend at U Village, and this free competition might be right up your alley. To register for the contest, either just show up ready to win or email naomi@chowfoods.com to declare your intentions. "Eat 100 Clams, Win 100 Clams!" reads their promo material. Sounds great, especially since they promise samples to spectators.
3 p.m., Saturday // U Village, 2675 NE Village Lane // Free
ASIAN BOOKS FOR SALE!: The Seattle Asian Art Museum has an annual book sale, and 2008's book sale is tomorrow. Available: art books, catalogues, posters and more. Gems are to be scored at library book sales, and Seattlest knows this from personal experience; don't miss this, bookworms!
12 p.m. - 5 p.m., Saturday // SAAM, 1400 East Prospect // Prices of books vary
