SOPPING WET OPERA: Byron Au Yong has composed 64 mini-operas meant to be performed in water--fountains, pools, and streams--throughout the Pacific Northwest. In this weekend's installments of Kidnapping Water: Bottled Operas, musicians and vocalists will perform unique mini-operas at parks and beaches in Des Moines/Burien (Saturday) and South Seattle (Sunday). "Who publishes the sheet-music of the winds or the music of water written in river-lines?" wrote 19th century poet John Muir; maybe that someone is the intriguing Byron Au Yong, and maybe this is your weekend to doggie-paddle in water opera. See if you like it!
Times vary, Sat. & Sun. // Des Moines, Burien, South Seattle // FREE
WHAT'S A KINO-RENEGADE?: Craig Baldwin is a Bay Area "kino-renegade," according to the NWFF, and he's screening his latest "found footage remix" (enhanced this time around by the addition of Baldwin's own original scenes) at the Film Forum this weekend. His topics: California, imagination, and pop culture. And other stuff. It's a creative remix, okay? That means it's art. "Mock Up On Mu" is the title (no, we don't know what it means).
8 p.m., Fri. & Sat. // Northwest Film Forum, 1515 12th Ave. // $8.50 GA

EXPLOSION OF MUSICAL GOODNESS: This is a hella strong line-up, not least because it's a mixed bill: Cancer Rising=bangin' hiphop, Caves=Portland indie pop-rock, and Champagne Champagne=trippy electro pop rap. This is basically a Make Your Own Adventure show, wherein you come for what you think you want (and there's plenty here to want) and stay for all the rad music you'll discover once you're there. The Sunset's gonna be sweaty tonight. Or, there's Pat Benatar at the Emerald Queen Casino. Also an explosion!
10 p.m., Friday // The Sunset, 543 Ballard Ave // $8 // 21+
GORGEOUS PHOTOS AND A CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN: What more could you ask for? Several local photographers are hosting a show on Saturday across from Safeco Field so that the adoring public can ogle their creative photos. Hillary Harris is one of the artists showing her work, and we'll point you towards this impossibly great Saturday Knights shoot for a glimpse into why we're excited to see more of Harris' photos. Also showing: the lovely Blush Photo, Christopher Nelson, Angela Dawn, and Kyle Johnson. There will be a chocolate fountain and DJ Kenji will be setting the musical mood. Check the flyer here for more info.
8 - 11 p.m., Saturday // 55 S. Atlantic St, Suite 303 // FREE
