Killing Time with Natalie Portman

Okay. Maybe that headline is a bit misleading. This is not actually a post about spending time with Natalie Portman, the actress. It is actually about the local band Natalie Portman's Shaved Head. Maybe we just got stuck in that fantasy world of ours in which we happen across a fellow bike rider with a broken chain and, when we stop to help, it turns out to be Natalie Portman who is so thankful that she rides home with us and spends the rest of her time in Seattle exploring her sexuality with us. Maybe we used a post about the local band Natalie Portman's Shaved Head to get stuck in that daydream. Just maybe.

In reality, this post comes to us via the Seattlest tips line (you all are keeping your eyes peeled for items we should post about and then emailing ideas in to tips@seattlest.com, right?) which received an e-mail this morning from the cats over at that go. They wanted us to know Natalie Portman's Shaved Head released their first video. Turns out the band, which we'd never heard before though we admire its name, is pretty good. At least this new song and its brightly-colored video are entertaining and a good time-killer if you've got that kind of job where you can watch music videos. Extra bonus: It's short, so you should have time to watch it.

As an extra, extra bonus, that-go is also hosting what they call a "very nice-looking Quicktime and bonus virtual reality zone." We spent a bit of time on it and can tell you that the best toys on it are Become One Point Five With the Information Superhighway and Independence/Codependence and Child Internetics (which we can see as being the biggest timesuck there). The rest are just variations on a theme, but those two are pretty. WARNING: They do have repetitive background music, so if your boss thinks you're editing a spreadsheet, plug in those headphones.

These kids make their own fun! I respect that.
