Vince Mira Readies For Rocking the Tattoo Expo

When we first heard that local Johnny Cash impersonator extraordinaire Vince Mira would be performing on the music stage at Seattle Tattoo Expo this weekend, our reaction was: "Isn't he too young to even have a tattoo?" Mira recently granted us a few minutes on the phone to answer this and all the other questions we had. "I don’t have any tattoos," he told Seattlest, "but I like Tiger Army, so I’m looking forward to playing the show."

Mira may have risen to regional fame as the teenager who nails Johnny Cash's famous bass tones perfectly, but he's been hard at work with John Carter Cash—son of Johny and June—on a full-length album due later this year. "We were just talking about making a record and trying to think of who could produce it," he says, "and someone mentioned John Carter Cash, so we called him up. It took him a while to get back, but he finally did."

But, until the new record comes out, we'll have to settle for a few random live sets from Mira, the first of which will occur Sunday, Aug. 10. After a couple of national dates, he'll be back for a set at Bumbershoot where, he tells us, he's looking forward to seeing Beck.
