LiveBloggin' the Hawks: The First Half

We'll try live blogging a few pre-season games this year. Let us know whether you'd like us to continue in the regular season.

Random thoughts:

The Hawks start fast on the road, jumping out to a 10-0 lead. A fast start on the road? Really?

Listening to Kevin Calabro call a football game is like standing at Gas Works Park at dawn, watching the UW crew glide by on Lake Union during a morning practice. Smooth, strong, efficient. Love it.

Mo Morris is giving the front office some headaches. Getting 62 yards on 6 carries in the first quarter creates a logjam at the top of the running back competition. Nice problem to have.

Welcome to the NFL, rookie kicker Brandon Coutu. Sorry, but kickoffs that only get to the 8-yard line won't cut it. But making a TD-saving tackle at midfield on your second kickoff will help your cause. Josh who?

Holmgren looks pissy already. He's in mid-season form. A pro's pro. If he was on Project Runway, he'd be the guy bitching about someone stealing his sewing machine.

Marcus Trufant is having a horrible game. An interference penalty, another one waved off. And he's getting lit up and tossed around more than a spliff at a Lee Scratch Perry show.

Thanks for making laundry SEXY again, Albert Lee Appliance. Well done.

Warren Moon on Julian Peterson's unsportsmanlike conduct penalty: "You gotta know better than that. As a veteran, you gotta hold your composure. You can't do that." So true, Warren. So true.

  • It'll happen. You see how much we ran once Frye was in. I mean yeah, Frye can't throw, but I think it was equally a test for Holmgren to get a feel for Forsett. And I think he liked what he saw. A lot.

And Brad, I'm not a fan of live blogging games. It misses analysis. If I'm on the web during a game, or even after, I'm going to go to the NFL site.

However, I'd like to read your analysis of the new kids on the block. Kent especially. I don't know... I was impressed but I fear there may be too much hype. I hope Bobby and Nate can keep him to the ground when balls aren't in the air.

I know Morris is a veteran but since he is a career backup I'd like to see the rookie Forsett get a look as he runs hard and could have some more upside.
