NYTimes Interviews Kirkland Troll
In a feature article on the psychology and sociology of Internet trolls and hackers, the New York Times shines their spotlight on Kirkland's own Craigslist scammer Jason Fortuny. Curious about what the guy looks like? From the article: "He is thin, with birdlike features and the etiolated complexion of one who works in front of a screen." Sounds like a lot of techies we know! Thoughts on the article? Leave 'em in the comments!

I just love the concept that trolls are "helping" people by destroying unearned trust among strangers--that they're opening people's eyes to their blind confidence in reasonable conversation and socially acceptable behavior. I'm gonna guess they haven't played this out to its end-state in game theory. "Fuckin' nihilists, Dude."

Trolls should not be fed.
Strange youtube links should not be clicked.
flashy banners promising free* PS3's and iPods are not to be trusted.
personal information does not belong on the web
your password should be more than a single four letter word.
These are all things that anyone who has been born after 1989 knows. They're sort of the un written rules of the internet. I see nothing wrong with guys like Fortuny that pick on the folks foolish enough to trust a stranger. The internet is not a safe place, but why should it be? "Trolling" is pretty mild compared to some of the other stuff thats online, such as viruses, Trojans, root kits, etc.
