Regarding the Blue Angels, We'll Say it for You

Oh, I'm damn envious. But also, make sure you read my words carefully. I do not know you. I stated that your words remind me of those who have not served. People who tout the flag in the rain. People who think that by simply saying "Yay bullets!" is more important than voting responsibly.

I do not know you. I wouldn't lay claim to your patriotism. However, I do know people who hide behind their fake patriotism as a way to spew their ideologies. I want to be extra clear- Your words reminded me of others. I was not speaking about you.

However, I spoke with a friend yesterday who ran into one of the new Blue Angels and she said he was super nice. The three that I've met over the years were not. So generalizing them as arrogant fly-boys may not be correct.

Anyways, trust me when I tell you I did not wish to target your patriotism. Even you must admit that some folks are far too quick to pull the nationalism trigger, though.

Of course they have dream jobs! And they worked damn hard to get them. Methinks your envy is showing.

Look -- I don't find their fly bys annoying. I can see how some do, but to claim that those fly-boys aren't cocky S.O.B.s with dream jobs is ludicrous.

I have run into them on the street over the years and they always act like spoiled brat frat boys, feeling that they're entitled to so much privilege.

And to hide them under the cloak of REAL service men is disgusting. So to people who Blues Fan's comment remind me of: fuck you and your fake patriotism.

Has it occurred to any of you that it is precisely because of men and women like the ones in those shiny blue jets that you have the freedom and the RIGHT to post your whining?

Without the willingness and dedication of the members of our armed forces who go out and protect and defend it daily, our Constitution would be nothing but a meaningless piece of ratty old paper.

So when you hear that "unbearable" noise (which lasts a mere 45 minutes), instead of whining like spoiled children, let your heart swell with pride and gratitude for the rights you enjoy as a result of that noise, which is THE SOUND OF FREEDOM!

Seems to me that putting up with a little noise for 45 minutes for 3, 4 or 5 days a year is a pitifully small price to pay for the freedoms we enjoy.

And, oh BTW, I guarantee that those patients at the VA hospital aren't complaining! If the Blues are buzzing the VA hospital, it's their way of paying tribute to the sacrifices that have been made by those patients on behalf of all of us!

Kwitcherbellyakin' and listen to how spoiled and ungrateful you sound. I hope you'll rethink your attitude.

I agree with jessejb @8--he sums it up pretty well for me.

I mean, I totally get why people hate them. They're loud, they terrify our pets, they spend mass amounts of fuel and money, and we empathize with those for whom fighter jets are not entertainment.

Yet, I still think the Angels are really cool. And for some folks, they represent our nation's strength and that makes them feel good. There's nothing wrong with that.

The Blues represent the sound of freedom. Our military allows us to live the life we do. They're only here a few days a year.

Somebody sounds like my 86 year old grandma! No wait, even grandma is okay with the noise and excitement. I work in the VA hospital and I don't feel the tiniest bit annoyed, I feel excited that I can go stand out on the deck and have an awesome view!!

If you "hate" or think the Blue Angels "suck", you would probably enjoy riding around on Mr. Garrison's "IT".

Come on, we didnt move to a city to bitch and complain about noise. Thats what the Eastside is for. Get over it. And your dogs.

Not everything in Seattle has to be calm and polite and lifeless all the time. And furthermore, jet planez are neet. USA USA!!!

The Blue Angels' annual joyride is Seattle's way of weeding out the weak and vulnerable. Once spotted crouching, they are tagged with invisible ink and then put on a Greyhound bus for some creepy Canadian guy to "take care of."

The Blue Angles suck...I watched dogs, birds, and two year olds in West Seattle duck and cover.

I was on a conference call... presenting to 50 or so people, and had to excuse the noise every few minutes... because my boss would private message me, are you vacuuming?

Just my two cents, Seattlest seemed to have a pretty different staff composition last year and there wasn't nearly this much bitching and moaning about the Blue Angels. It's just a few days, guys. And in any event, one post about it was enough. Everyone got to comment on that one and complain. I suppose I'm biased, though. Life-long Seattle resident, I hate Seafair but love the Angels. But seriously, I think we did our complaining in one post. I think we're done.

What a difference a year makes--last year, my office was under their flight path and I got a headache from it, too. Finally I just gave up and went home while they rehearsed. This year, new office in a north Capitol Hill location, no headache (so far). I can hear 'em swooshing around, but don't get that disturbing subsonic rumble.
