Can't Miss It: Thursday
"HISTORY IS ABOUT TO CRACK OPEN": Angels in America may be one of the most moving plays we've ever seen, and it's being reprised in Seattle for the second weekend in a row, before ending its run next week. The performance of the play's first part, "Millenium Approaches," is being performed by Absurd Reality Theatre at the Bagley Wright, in the small theater. May we suggest you head out to the theater and catch a showing? When you're done with Part One, you can always head to ReAct's production of Part Two: "Perestroika."
Part One: 7:30 p.m. // PONCHO Forum at Bagley Wright // $18
Part Two: 7:30 p.m. // Ethnic Cultural Theater // $15

COOL BANDS WITH GOOD BAND NAMES: There are so many stupid band names in the world that, when we hear about bands with names like "Awesome", Boat, and Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band, we can't help but get excited. All three will be rocking out at Neumos tonight with Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band at the helm, in their first ever show. Considering the discriminating ears on the booking staff at Neumos, the fact that the band has never played anywhere before this headlining slot at Neumos is pretty impressive.
8 p.m. doors // Neumos // $8, all ages
BIG WILLIE STYLE: No we didn't just call William Shakespeare "Big Willie." Oh yes, yes we did. Jess Winfield, who co-founded the Reduced Shakespeare Company, is hitting up Elliott Bay Books tonight to read from his debut novel My Name is Will. Presumably, the novel employs the same wit and hilarity displayed in Winfield's show, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged).
