And even if the Republicans go the way of the polar bear, we still won't get any decent progressive legislation out of congress. God I feel cynical at the moment. Must have something to do with sitting in a crowded bus on Elliott for way too long.

I had the honor of seeing Stevens march (hobble) along as grand marshal of the Seward 4th of July parade this summer. Dude is very, very old. 85 this year. Unbelievable it's taken this long to nail him. Was interesting to listen to the crowd cheer and taunt him simultaneously. "Hey Ted, fuck off!" was my favorite. Succinct, to the point. They treat him mostly like a joke -- he's a crook, sure, but he's our crook. If you're ever south of Anchorage, check out the Alyeska Resort which also serves as uncle Ted's meeting facilities (he lives down the road). Brush up on your Texan so you can talk with the other guests. You can almost smell the improprieties that have occurred there.

How do you guys eat at so many different places?! Simply amazed. I walked past the Seaman's Club yesterday and wanted to go in, but chickened out. I know it's off topic, but if I have to spew any more words tainted with republican topicality, I may die.
