Can't Miss It: Tuesday

AT LONG LAST: The Colored Pencil Society of America will be presenting its 16th Annual Colored Pencil Society International Exhibition for the next month or so, starting today. We've been wondering all year if we're alone in our colored pencil hording, but alas! There are others like us. No, we haven't actually been hording colored pencils. But, it's good that there are people who do such a thing, and that they'll be gathering downtown today through August 22, giving substance to the argument that colored pencils are far better than crayons. No, crayons, last we checked, didn't have their own society.

ATTENTION METAL FREAKS: As you know, this Seattlest is a raging metal head. (Again with the sarcasm. Did Kaladi Brothers slip something into our coffee?) However, we hear this metal band they call Boris is pretty mind-blowingly fantastic. In fact, Kevin Diers calls them "psychadelic drone metal freaks," and Seattlest Katelyn's metal head roommate is "SUPER EXCITED" about them. So there you go. We know nothing about metal music, but we do like the little spider and other jiggly drawings on their website

SOME MOVIE ABOUT A GUY IN A BAT SUIT: If, like this Seattlest, you still haven't seen The Dark Knight, why not take some time out on this cloudy, cooler Tuesday and catch a showing? If you don't have the stomach for a giant showing at IMAX, you can grab a beer and some kettle corn at the Big Picture and hunker down for the evening. The Big Picture charges a little less than your conventional cineplex, and you can hit the bar during the film.

5:25, 8:30 p.m. // The Big Picture // $7
