Can't Miss It: Thursday
WHAT A WICKED GAME YOU PLAY: There's some pretty good national names hitting town tonight. But, since Emmylou Harris is sold out at the Zoo, perhaps you'll enjoy the warbling sounds of Chris Isaak at the Chateau Ste. Michelle winery. Tickets for that are still on sale.
7 p.m. // Chateau Ste. Michelle // $45-69

THE SLAVES' WAR: Local author Andrew Ward will be reading from his latest compelling historical account of what some of our friends from back home would call "the war of Yankee aggression." The book is called The Slaves' War: The Civil War in the Words of Former Slaves, and it sounds both riveting and heartbreaking. He'll be reading from it tonight at the African-American History Museum.
6 p.m. // African-American History Museum // Price of museum admission: $6 adults, $4 seniors/students, members free
HUNGARIAN FOLK MUSIC: If the pricier shows at the Zoo and the Winery aren't your thing, perhaps you'll enjoy a trip to Ballard tonight for a folk music show that'll blow your mind. A Hawk and a Hacksaw came all the way from Budapest just for this show (and a bunch of others across the U.S. and Canada). They'll be joined by England's Benjamin Wetherill and one of Portland's best, Laura Gibson (who loses the prize for traveling far to play a show).
9 p.m. // Tractor Tavern // $13
