First of Five Severed Feet Identified

An Orcas Island connection to the foot mystery? "Orcas Island View" by Jay Cox

After almost a year of mystery, the first of five severed feet found in British Columbia have been identified as belonging to a missing man. While the man's family has asked that his identity not be released to the public, Royal Canadian Mounted Police say the man was depressed and disappeared over a year ago. Which of the found feet belonged to the missing man has also not been released.

Currently the RCMP is going through DNA samples of over 300 missing Canadians to try to match them to the severed feet, and this is the first positive match they've had. According to police in the San Juans, the Mounties are also looking into a connection with a Washington cold case. Apparently a yet-to-be-identified footless body washed ashore on Orcas Island March 2007. Feet started washing ashore in Canada five months later. Despite the bar being set incredibly high to begin with, this story just keeps getting creepier.
