Weekend Music

Road trip! The seventh annual What the Heck Fest is taking place all weekend at venues in Anacortes. Mt. Eerie is but one of the many bands set to perform.

If you're staying here in town, tonight loud-ass two-piece Middle Class Rut plays King Cobra, along with Burning Brides.

Saturday it might as well be Los Fest at Marymoor Park, with the double bill of Los Lobos and Los Lonely Boys. Alright, so it's actually called the Brotherhood Tour, and it kicks off in Portland today. Here's a clip of the latter band wailing on a harmonica at the Rib America Festival in Kansas City (of course).

Also David Bazan will be opening for the prolific Ray Davies (hello! the Kinks!) at the Showbox SoDo tomorrow night. Jesse Sykes and The Sweet Hereafter will be joining Ray as his backing band, ensuring a not-to-miss show. Bazan at Sasquatch last month:

And finally on Saturday, Chop Suey hosts the latest free 21+ show in the Save A Penny Series with Ships, The Pica Beats, and The Color Bars. Chop Suey may have an atrociously redesigned webpage---a calendar view is not optional, fellas---but that's a damn fine local lineup, and did we mention the free?
