More Spikes Discovered in Green Lake

"Divers at Green Lake Beach" courtesy of the charming and delightful Seattle Municipal Archives.

Two more sharpened metal spikes—buried on the bottom of Green Lake—were found by divers today. After being painfully discovered by a boater and his foot on Sunday night, police divers have located 41 more spikes buried around the lake's boating center with the sharp side pointed up.

There is speculation the spikes have been in the lake for some time, upwards of 2 months, because some of the found spikes have been rusty and corroded. So not only might you get an impaled foot in Green Lake, you might get tetanus too! Police divers will be conducting one final sweep of the lake to be certain they have discovered every last spike. We still won't be dipping our toes into Green Lake any time soon.
