Seattlest always kind of wants to roll our eyes when some transportation option gets put to voters in these parts. Call it a Pavlovian response trained into us through years of noncommittal discussion about monorails. But, today the Seattle Times is reporting that we'll get to vote on a light rail system that'll take folks to places like Overlake, Star Lake, and Lynnwood (sweet!).
In order to get us to stop rolling our eyes, though, they'll have to promise to not make us vote on whether or not to vote again. Fingers crossed! On the other hand, maybe we should just scrap the whole public transit issue entirely and just hand out flying bicycles. Certainly, for the $17.6 billion (with a b!) they're talking about spending on light rail, every citizen could have one, and there'd be enough left over for a zipline where the 520 bridge is now. Fun!

Tuesdays are Muppet Days

They should postpone the vote until after the first line is opened up so we can see if it would be worth it to expand further. What's the rush? It should be open in less than a year.
Besides, all of those billions could go for shiny new double deck buses that can go anywhere, not just on a fixed path.
