FOOD ORGY: Get thee to the Seattle Center this weekend for the annual Bite of Seattle. Over a hundred booths, multiple beer gardens, cooking demos, live entertainment... all in the name of of good, local eating? Sounds like a great weekend event to us! Take advantage of the Just A Bite area, offering mini versions of local restaurant specialties for $3.75 a serving.
11 a.m.-9 p.m., Fri & Sat; 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Sun // Seattle Center // Free

BATTLES OF SKILL AND WILL: The Mariners are playing Cleveland this weekend at Safeco, of course. But the real showdown will be at this month's Graffiti Rock in Ballard, where there will be both a producer's beat battle (!!) and an invitational MC showdown. DJ100proof's spinning, Johnny Concrete's hosting, and the competition will be fierce. This will start late and go late, so we recommend prefunking at La Isla with Happy Hour mojitos and pork empanadillas. (Yum.)
10 p.m., Saturday // The Sunset, 5433 Ballard Ave // $5 // 21+
GOLF AND THE CITY: Don't wear heels to the Seattle Urban Golf tournament on Saturday. Do wear plaid pants. Bring your lucky golf club and ID to Cal Anderson for tee off, because not only will you be golfing a very urban nine holes with your team, but you'll be stopping at nine bars along the way as well! Genius. According to the website, this is as much a drinking and fashion event as it is a golfing event, so look snappy.
2 p.m. tee, Saturday // Cal Anderson Park, Capitol Hill // $3 plus $$ for beer along the way // 21+
HAHA, VERY PUNNY: Every Sunday night, Comedy Underground holds an open mic night for talent both fresh and seasoned to test out material on willing audience members. We've gone and loved it, not least for the myriad psychological case study possibilities on stage. Now that Comedy Underground is closed for a spell, Giggles Comedy Club is the place to go for Sunday night comedy open mic. Come prepared to laugh, because guaranteed there will be something that tickles your funny bone; come prepared to die a little bit inside when comedians flop, which is guaranteed to happen too. (Thanks to commenter heatherc for the tip.)
9 p.m., Sunday // Giggles Comedy Club // $5 // 21+
"Zesty!" by Seattlest Flickr Contributor TheQ!. THAT looks yummy!

Friendly Folk-Pop for the Kids: Hey Marseilles at Vera This Saturday

I believe the Comedy Underground is temporarily closed.
There's also an open mic at Giggles in the U-District on Sunday nights.
as of Tuesday, July 08, 2008
New Comedy Underground opening soon!
Contrary to the rumors flying around, The Comedy Underground, Seattle's iconic comedy club, will be re-opening soon in Pioneer Square.
New address is 109 S. WASHINGTON ST. (corner of Occidental) about a block and a half from the old place.
Woah, thanks Heather! Seattlest now recommends you go to Giggles.
Note to Comedy Underground people: your open mic nights are still advertised on Yahoo. ;)
