On the Seattle side, this weekend brings Bite of Seattle, but on the Eastside it’s time for Kirkland Uncorked: A Festival of Style and Taste.

Kirkland Uncorked is a three-day festival featuring more than 60 wines from Washington wineries, along with pairing plates and picnic boxes from the Rotary Club of Kirkland Downtown and The Crab Cracker. Entry to the beer garden includes a souvenir wine-tasting glass, ten tasting tokens, and a chance to enjoy jazz and classical music performances on two stages. And on Saturday, be sure to check out the grilling competition between Chef Greg Campbell of Third Floor Fish Cafe, Chef Dan Hutchinson of Brix 25º, and Chef Bo Maisano of Madison Park Cafe. A portion of garden entry funds will benefit Hope Heart’s local research and education to fight heart disease.

Coinciding with the festival (and free of charge) are the Artist Lane (a fine art show featuring over 60 of Northwest Art Alliance’s Best of the Northwest Artists), the Discover Boating Showcase, the CityDog Cover Dog Contest, and the Kirkland Car Show.

Lots going on in Kirkland this weekend. We asked the head honcho of Bold Hat Productions, producers of Kirkland Uncorked, what makes the event so special, and he stressed that there are 75,000 less people than at the Bite, lots of wine samples and information for less than a tank of gas, and a world of fun with a wonderful view.

Friday through Sunday (see site for event schedule) // Kirkland // Tasting garden entry is $20 ($25 at the gate)
