NOT BURLESQUE: Columbia City Theater is a really great room to watch singer-songwriters do their thing. Tonight, the room will host a CD release party for the exquisitely talented Shenandoah Davis, featuring special guest Molly Rose, and others. Grab a drink and kick back in the old Vaudeville theater for a night of introspective, arty songwriting.
8 p.m. // Columbia City Theater // $10

I FEEL THE NEED, THE NEED FOR SPEED: Pacific Science Center's monthly Science With a Twist event tonight focuses on speed. Not the stuff that gives you the shakes and makes you want to clean your kitchen for five hours. We're talking about the thing that race cars do. Check out the new exhibit on speed, drink a lot of wine and mixed drinks, and then sit in the IMAX and watch a tower-sized film about fast things.
6 p.m. happy hour, 8 p.m. film // Pacific Science Center // $17 members, $20 general (includes first drink and a ticket to the film)
ATTENTION LESBIANS: There's a killer show going on at the Triple Door tonight, sure to provide something for every type of lesbian known to exist on God's green earth. There's butch poetess/singer-songwriter Ferron joined by her collaborator, the divinely punky fiddler/bassist/poet/producer/singer-songwriter Bitch, and Atlanta-based rather talented Hottie McTottie Doria Roberts. Don't waste another night at the Rose. Get your fine butts to the Triple Door!
