The P-I Gets a New Racy Advertiser?

We're no prude, but we have to admit to being a wee bit (okay a lot) shocked to see the following banner ad attached to a local news story on the Seattle P-I's site.

And since most of you thought we doctored the photos from the great bad soup debacle of early 2008, here's a photo showing it's actually on the P-I's news site and not their version of LustLab or erotic advertisements. (We haven't picked up a hard, tree-killing copy in a while, so for all we know the P-I could have escort ads after the obits by now.)

Are we ridiculous for this shocking us or is it part and parcel for a site that inquires if Miss Universe contestants in their bikinis are hot or not?

You probably have spyware on your PC.

Before you finish swooning over these shocking adverts, save something for the Seattle Times.

If you do a little reading on the infamous JOA, you will discover that the Times is responsible for selling and placing all of the advertising for the two papers and the websites.

yes, yes it is NxNW...that was kind of the point...such things are now available and accosting you from after the jump stories on the Seattle PI's website.

So much for checking the local news sites being work appropriate, eh?

  • NxNW

Uhh, that's almost NSFW....maybe a little warning next time? At least nobody was looking over my shoulder (I don't think)

  • Kim Ruehl

wait a minute, abbey. is this the all wet you were talking about?

  • Abbey

    I do too now

  • Kim Ruehl

i got some hot lady in a bathing suit who looks hungry and confused on my seattlest ad.

  • Katelyn

Girl, my Seattlest page shows a Busted Tee ad. Your computer must just be feeling horny today.

  • Abbey

Seattlest gets a new racy advertiser too?

    "All Wet?"

  • MvB

@6: that was ad-related all right, but it was because some of the ads being served up were infected with a virus. Oopsie.

  • raincitysun

Maybe this ad (or this advertiser) is why Firefox3 was blocking the PI as a "malicious site" earlier in the week? *amused*

  • Abbey

    I know Katelyn!

All whilst admitting the ad that targeted them was for adult diapers. Which, c'mon is WAY kinkier than my targeted ad.

  • Katelyn

LOL. Abbey, I think JSeattle just accused you of racy online behavior.

I'm seeing an ad about preventing identity theft... how did they know about my wallet?!

  • jseattle

clearly behavioral targeting. i'm seeing adult diaper ads. clear your cache. and don't bring up the soup thing again, please. i like to pretend it didn't happen.

  • Kim Ruehl

it may not be an ad that the PI was aware was showing at that moment? perhaps the advertiser who bought that space just...um...slid that one in there.

    The P-I isn't fit for fish-wrap.

I would rather read The Stranger than the P-I.
