Nazso Fast

yahtzee.jpgHad things gone differently on the beaches of Normandy, some government organization may have gone after your grandfather in some generic German suburb.

However, since America fucking won World War II, our grandparents aren't in the same boat that an 86-year-old Bellevue man finds himself in. The Justice Department claims that Peter Egner was guard and interpreter for a Nazi death squad that killed over 17,000 people, and is seeking to revoke his citizenship, which could result in his deportation.

His immigration lawyer, Robert Gibbs, told the Times, "We don't know what they have…But it seems to me if they're coming after this old man, then they must be at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to war criminals."

Well, yeah, since the war ended over 60 years ago, we would hope that outside of the Buenos Aires Oktoberfest there aren't many Nazi war criminals left on the loose.

As for Enger, he denies the allegations; however it's unknown if he was just following orders from his lawyer.

that advice/defense didn't work too well for Eichmann...

I don't care how old he is or where he lives now. If the guy did help in the mass murder of millions of people, he deserves a lot more than being deported.
Why does his age/nursing home status make a difference? If this were someone responsible for killing those three (four?) black girls in an Alabama church in the 60s, would anyone be saying that he should be left alone because of his age or would they be calling for his head?
If the man committed (the most heinous, atrocious)crimes against humanity, he SHOULD be punished as much as possible, for as long as possible. If he did this, I hope his last days are full of misery and pain. A lot of both.

For the record, Nazis *love* puns.

I just think that there are a lot more war criminals that could be dealt with within our own borders than a man about to die.
