Rumored Queen Anne Prank

Some guy at a bar last night told Seattlest that some friends of his got city approval for a public art prank in Queen Anne yesterday. He said that they set up some bogus construction site with a big painting of the city skyline obstructed by a new tram to take Queen Anne residents in to downtown. The painting supposedly listed the cell phone number of one of the pranksters. Guess we can expect an mp3 of angry Queen Anne nimbies (sp? Nimby-ies?) screaming bloody murder to start making the rounds of all the blogs soon. If it's true that this happened and that our elected city government rubber-stamped this prank, then we live in the coolest city in the world.

I rode by a construction site last night around 1AM but didn't look too closely. Any chance it's on Galer near 2nd?

First of all, which bars are you hanging out at that you get such interesting tips? And second, any update?

From our tip e-line:

"There was definitely a chain link fence with a perspective drawing of a tram, a plan drawings and the city logo and VULCAN as the contractor on the closeenough-to-professional looking board mounted to the fence. Enclosed in the fence were a few construction items, a big spool of cable among other things. Didn't get a picture, unfortunately. It was there about 10 am Sat, Kerry Park overlook next to the sculpture (which was depicted in the drawing and dwarfted by the tram station structure) and then gone when we went back later in the evening. Very interested to know more about it, was city approved, etc."

Soulds like the PDL thing the slog mentioned. We were there around 7:30, but didn't see anything. Too bad!
