520 Closed All Weekend

If you have to head east this weekend, your only options to get across Lake Washington are to take I-90 or the long drive north around the lake. (Technically you could also boat, paddle, or swim across we suppose.) State Route 520/The Evergreen Point Floating Bridge will be closed for the entirety of the weekend--from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday--for its annual inspection. The closure affects the span of SR520 from Montlake Boulevard to 92nd Avenue N.E.

With the increased traffic on the remaining routes, if you do have to go somewhere on the eastside, you should plan on the trip taking some extra time due to the closure and subsequent traffic snarls.

I've seen so much snarkiness as of late, I'm going to throw my hat into the ring:

the long drive north around the lake

Can't we drive around the south end? I really only mention because you bring up technical other methods immediately afterwards.

Too bad cause Marymoor Park is right off 520, regarding the concert and all.

This post would be a lot more useful if it told us why 520 is closed. I mean, we can click the KING link, but come on--lazyness prevails here.

what part of that doesn't tell you why 520 is closed?

What part of the grammar in his comment doesn't make your head implode?

In my initial comment, I call out morons who's seemingly sole reason to comment is to be obnoxiously dickish, and viola! there they come, riding in full stride on a horse of ignorance, not understand that yes, in fact, I was referring to them.

Just to be clear, I purposely made that a single sentence filled with commas as an homage to the DC Unknown.

that photo, by the way, is incredible.

And what-da-ya-know, traffic on I-90 West is fubarred right now. WSDOT travel times page says it's 37 minutes Bellevue->Seattle when it's normally 12 minutes at this time.
