Can't Miss It: Weekend Edition, July 4-6

BOMBS BURSTING, ETC: Happy Independence Day! Grill up some zucchini, down a beer or three, and enjoy your day off. Ivars is doing their exploding chemicals thing after sunset, so if you're into that, sedate your dogs/chickens/goldfish and enjoy the 23 minute show over Elliott Bay. Or wherever: check here and here for your options.

GANGSTA RAP—SERIOUSLY: Get your gangsta self to Chop Suey on Saturday for Crooked I. Dude is named after malt liquor, which gives you some idea about just how badass this show will be; local artists opening include The Parker Brothaz and Jay Barz. Check out Crooked I's latest single, "Dream Big," and listen for the shoutout to bloggers. That's OG!

9 p.m., Saturday // Chop Suey // $10adv // 21+

PUFFINS ON PROTECTION ISLAND: The Port Townsend Marine Science Center does wildlife bird migration cruises to Discovery Bay several times each summer, and this might just be the perfect weekend for you to board the Glacier Spirit for three hours and get an eyeful of some puffins in their natural habitat. Tours leave from Point Hudson Marina at 6 p.m. on selected Saturdays. Cute and informative!

SHH, IT'S A SECRET MYSPACE SHOW: We're not telling you that a certain UK metal group, the name of which starts with D and ends with ragonforce, is playing a secret show for those of you who can't make it to the Mayhem Festival. All we're saying is that fans of anthemic metal rock might want to be at El Corazon on Sunday. Too big of a hint?

7 p.m., Sunday // El Corazon // 7 p.m. // All Ages // Free
