Best Washington Band Ever?

The Boston Phoenix came up with a "Best Of" list, organized state by state, of the greatest bands ever. They chose three categories for each state of our diverse Union: Best Band of All Time, Best Solo of All Time, and Best New Band. Are you ready for Boston's take on Washington's musical legacy?

Results after the jump.

and....Best New Band goes to the Fleet Foxes.

Wow. Fleet Foxes is great... in that they bring together everything I hate about the current Seattle music scene (sponsored by KEXP)

I dunno about here, but, being from Boston, and having been there during the 90s... Candlebox is sadly a one-hit wonder.

Yeah, I'd put Bing Crosby up against Jimi for plain old best. It's like making a list of the 100 Best Songs of the Past 100 years!!! and not including anything by Cole Porter.

Nope -- just plain old BEST, period. They did specify that the solo artist had to be born in the state.

after a little more thought, i'm wondering if they specified "best rock band/artist"? because, seriously, loretta lynn would be vying with jimi if it's best artist overall.

i think they're spot on, although...um...no pressure, fleet foxes.
