Yesterday, we inquired how all of you had stayed cool over the blazing weather this weekend in the Pacific Northwest. Thankfully, none of you submitted the following idea, which was enacted by two Portland 20-somethings.
It does sound like a lovely idea right now, though, as we sit in our stifling home: Portland police arrested a couple in their 20s early Saturday morning for skinny-dipping in the Mount Tabor Reservoir. Both were cited for trespassing before being released. Water Bureau officials in Oregon say that the couple was not swimming in an active section of the reservoir. If they had been, they would have had to dump millions of gallons of contaminated water. Had this been the case, we imagine we wouldn't have heard about it and no one would have been the wiser.
This story will likely steer us away from trying to dip our toes into local reservoirs. But, if we have another week of heat like this weekend, we might just be tempted.

Huh?
OK, they shouldn't have been skinny-dipping in the reservoir (bad kids, bad) but the city would have had to dump millions of gallons of water out because someone did/didn't bathe?
This water isn't treated before it's used?
That was my thought ruffhauser--but they say oh no--contamination is contamination! But it's not like months later we're going to find the guys litte swimmers in our water...
So, when birds swim in the reservoir - or fly over it and drop their bombs - the water is not contaminated?
seattle veggie you need to be working with the water department cuz u hit right on the head. there's also insects,squirrels/other things that can get thru/over that fence. yuk.
