Can't Miss It: Tuesday

Radioclit + Frank Chan Tour PosterFREE BOOTY: Scion is desperate to be cool, and the latest result of that pathological drive is a CD sampler of work from IHEARTCOMIX, the LA-based label/lifestyle company. The CD is available at Scion dealerships, but the real cool news is that IHEARTCOMIX is sending dj Franki Chan (with Radiocl*t and Drop the Lime) on a limited and exclusive tour to support the release that comes to the War Room tonight. The show's free, but you have to RSVP here first.

10 p.m. // War Room, 722 East Pike St. // 21+ // free w/ RSVP

FRANCOPHILIA: The "Fête de la Musique" is a big deal in France and the Francophone world, but here in Seattle it will be celebrated at no bigger venue than Fremont's High Dive, which is cool, because club shows are a hell of a lot better than giant music festivals. Traditionally held on the Solstice, a trio of French or part-French musicians is doing a West Coast tour that brings them here a couple days late. Franco-Senegaleses Tété is the "French Ben Harper," a platinum-selling troubadour mixing funk, soul, and political engagement (he's part French, after all). Scott Fisher is a pop musician in a more traditional vein, based in Portland and L.A. And Eric John Kaiser, also operating out of Portland, has been described as "Manu Chao meets the Rolling Stones."

7 p.m. // High Dive, 513 North 36th // 21+ // $10

JAPANIMATION: Studio Ghibli is the house that Miyazaki built, and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984) was the foundation. A classic by the master of Japanese animation, Nausicaä prefigures later films like Princess Mononoke, with its deep environmental themes, exploration of human destruction, and reconfiguration of Japanese mythology. A limited showing happens tonight and tomorrow night on the big screen at Northwest Film Forum.

4, 6:30, & 9 p.m. // NWFF, 1515 12th Ave. // $6-$8.50 for nonmembers
