It's hard to believe, but the Dandy Warhols' sixth studio full-length (and the first on their own label) Earth To The Dandy Warhols will be out this August. The tongue-in-cheek Portland alt-rock band plays the Showbox SoDo tonight. Not sure if it would be a better or worse show if longtime frenemies Brian Jonestown Massacre crashed the gig.
As far as we can tell, there's still tix available to tonight's Kultur Shock show at Chop Suey. Kinda surprising, considering the gypsy punk band consistently sells out venues around town. Opening for them are local sound mavens X-Ray Press (now with keyboard).
Also on the docket for tonight is global dance party/fundraiser JUICE at the LoFi, hosted by Darek Mazzone and DJ Rhythma. Friday's summer solstice event is a celebration of São João, benefiting Bahia Street and the World Affair Council's Global Classroom Program.
Tomorrow night, hit up Long Island singer-songwriter Jaymay at the Tractor. Girlfriend's already all kinds of big in Britain.
Tomorrow there's also the dreamy psych-pop of Mono in VCF at Neumo's
or the roots and bluegrass Americana of Railroad Earth at the Showbox.
And on Sunday, don't miss the severely talented, severely big-haired singer-songwriter-sophisticate Imaad Wasif and his excellently named band Two Part Beast at the Comet.
