Mano a Mano on Severed Feet Theories

Now that a sixth foot has washed ashore in British Columbia and the mainstream media has picked up the story (because, five severed feet washing ashore—not national news; but half a dozen—now that's a headline!), the theories on the source of the severed feet are coming in.

The first theory we heard came from local oceanographer Curtis Ebbesmeyer, who told the Seattle P-I that he believes:

"The feet came along as a result of an accident that might have happened up along the Fraser River, that washed down and spread out along the Straight of Georgia" and that "the feet could have drifted from as far as 1,000 miles away."
Also, with the appearance of a sixth foot, the previously mum Mounties have floated their own theory. Annie Linetea, a spokesperson for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police told CNN:
"We are exploring the possibility that it could be people who may have drowned. It could be missing fishermen. It could be the remains of people who may have died in a plane crash."
Linetea added that foul play is not thought to be a cause of at least the first four feet, because no tool marks were found on the feet. All of the found feet have been wearing running shoes. The sixth foot, which washed up yesterday, was wearing a size 10 black Adidas.

As much as we love a good, creepy mystery (and writing these stories), we hope the case of the Canadian severed feet is soon solved. Until it is, we can't imagine even dipping our attached little feet in the Canadian waters.

Having thoroughly exhausted our Flickr photo pool's feet photos, we went for a Mountie-related photo for today. "Mounties Thataway" by Paul Carrol

Way to ruin the party, jezbian. Now we'll never know if it was Colonel Mustard or Professor Plum.

If the feet belong to fishermen how come they are all wearing tennis shoes?

VERY good question, jwhieger! Wouldn't they be wearing heavy boots or Crocs or something?

Oh you didn't just bring crocs into this.

FOR SHAME!
