Please Sir, I Want Some More Details

Ooooh—the Seattle P-I has launched their new crime blog, Seattle 911. It's a resting place for the flotsam and jetsam of the city's police and fire departments, where morbidly fascinated readers can take in side stories, breaking crime news, and details from daily reports.

The site promises "news both fresh and forgotten," which we hope means that there will also be info about cold cases. And there's already a comment on the introductory post suggesting that the blog be used as "a forum for rogue & violent police actions," which sounds like wishful thinking.

This could go either way: an overload of boring information cut from normal news coverage for a reason, or the ultimate resource for bloggers and other interested investigative citizens who wish they could live inside The Wire. God knows we always have wanted to work side-by-side with Lester Freamon!

"suggesting that the blog be used as "a forum for rogue & violent police actions,"

I thought the P.I itself had that role covered.

I know it's the role of the press to be the "watchdog of the state", but I've never seen a big-city newspaper with a bigger hard-on for anti-law enforcement than the P.I.

That's precisely what the next comment on the article pointed out! To clarify, it's wishful thinking not that the PI would ever say anything anti-law enforcement (you've pointed out that it's just the opposite) -- but rather that the blog would somehow turn into a citizen oversight type "forum" towards the end of police accountability.
