Can't Miss It: Monday
FROSH LIT: Desperately hip? Unsuccessful Seattle literary type desperate to bask in the glow of the real thing? Wanna kvetch about how much you hate the stuck-up Ivy League boys over at n+1? Well, tonight's your chance: Ed Park, one of the founding editors of McSweeneys tagalong The Believer, is in town pitching his debut novel, Personal Days. It's a book about a bunch of Manhattan office workers, delving deep into the rich inner lives of cubicle dwellers. Or something. Just remember to print a new copy of your manuscript before you try to foist it on him over the book signing table...you want your brilliant new work to stand out!
7:30 p.m. // Elliott Bay Books // 101 S. Main Street // free

WEIRD FOR THE SAKE OF WEIRD: Love it or hate it, the performance on stage at On the Boards always engenders a strong reaction, which is more than we can say for most theatres in town. Tonight's the newest installment of 12 Minutes Max, OtB's long-running showcase of new and developing works. The show will feature works from a Japanese dancer, an exploration of the clash between modernity and fundamentalism in Turkey, and some weird trip-hop music. It's Monday--what else are you gonna do?
7 p.m. // On the Boards @ First & Roy in Lower Queen Anne // $8 door
YE SEXY CURIOSITY SHOPPE: Ah, the joy of work-place fantasies! The well-spring from which dreams of naughty librarians and overly virile cable repairmen are born! The secret lives of the people around us are a source of endless fascination and titillation, whether it's the barista who takes our order, the office bombshell, or the hot red-head at the bus stop. And now, like the infamous reverse striptease, photographer Dale Rio takes a bevy of burlesque dancers out of the theatre and back into their daily workplaces, a photographic collapse of the realms of fantasy and the quotidian. The exhibit's hung on the walls of Babeland, the sex toy shop, so you can use this as the excuse you've been looking for to just "wind up" next to the funny handcuffs or iPod-powered vibrator you've always wanted but were afraid to go ask for.
