Our beloved boys of summer (?) return to the friendly confines of RoBro after a 3-3 road trip to Boston and Toronto, cementing them firmly in last place in the AL West—16.5 games behind the Angels.
It was a busy week for the M's, one which featured a star pitcher's arm falling off, while King Felix threw two gems, yielding only one unearned run in 14 innings pitched. The team was busy off the field, too. In the greatest piece of misplaced blame since Courtney Love was run out of town, the M's fired their...batting coach.
But, what is Jeff Pentland's loss is surely our gain. Pentland has been replaced with former M's hitting coach Lee Elia, who is not only a fine mentor in the batting cage, but also a very skilled orator.
Looking ahead:
The first 25,000 fans attending tonight's game vs Washington will receive an Adrian Beltre WaMu bobblehead, which is sure to be a collector's item. (How long can that bank hang on, anyway?)
The M's face the Washington Nationals this weekend, before welcoming the Florida Marlins for a three-game series starting Monday.
