Can't Miss It: Thursday

Seattle Sounders FC Flag
SALMAN RUSHDIE: He'll be hitting Town Hall tonight to read from his latest effort, The Enchantress of Florence. According to the press release, it sounds like it's one of those quasi-fictional tales pitting opposites against each other (and, possibly, in the process, showing how opposites attract?). Tickets are available at University Bookstore for $5 a pop, or you can just buy a copy of the novel and use that as your entry.

7:30 p.m. // University Bookstore // $5 or a copy of the book

SOCCER, OR FOOTBALL, OR WHATEVER: Our new local soccer team, Seattle Sounders will be playing Juventus Primavera in an exhibition match tonight at the Starfire Sports Complex. It's a good opportunity to start getting pumped for our new team (who will hopefully actually be good).

7 p.m. // Starfire Sport Complex // $15 adv, $20 at the door

JAZZ SONGSTRESS: Singer-songwriter Patricia Barber will be hitting the stage at the Triple Door tonight. Her bio describes her best: "a dark-hued modern cabaret sensibility and a sophisticated songwriting talent that flirts with art song." Go for the music, stay for the ambience and the good mojitos.
