Parade Accidents: Only Funny in Animal House

Screen Cap of the Animal House parade float

Like many fans of sophomoric humor, Seattlest loves Animal House. We blame it on the Seattle Mariners who used the Belushi "it's not over" speech to rally the crowd and team when the M's were down late in a game. Let's be frank, as a child of the 80's we saw this video at more games at the Kingdome than not. By the time we were old enough to enjoy the wonder that is Animal House, we could probably recite the scene word for word.

One of our favorite scenes in Animal House was always when the disgraced Delta Tau Chi house literally crashed through the town's parade. But, after reading Jasey Anker's story, we can't imagine laughing at the scene anymore.

The 7-year-old from Lynden, Wash., is still in the hospital after a parade float ran over her this Saturday. Anker was participating in Lynden's annual Farmer's Day parade, when she fell off a float. The float ran over her, puncturing her lung and fracturing two of her ribs. Further proof that what is funny in the movies is rarely funny in real life. Jasey is expected to fully recover from her float-induced injuries.
