Can't Miss It: Tuesday

FULL PUPPET NUDITY: You might have noticed that big banner on the side of the Paramount advertising puppet cleavage Avenue Q. Well, tonight is opening night, so if you haven't gotten your tickets for this ever-so-brief run of the Tony Award-winning show, now's your time. Seattlest will be there tonight for the kick-off, but then it's up to you to get out and see those puppets sing and swear all over the place.

Dalai Lama in Seattle
WHO SAID THE DALAI LAMA MATTERS?: Robert Thurman, apparently (and, okay, Seattlest, and a lot of the other people in the world). If you missed His Holiness himself last month—the concert he did with Dave Matthews, and the other talks, lectures, and events—then this is about as close as you're going to get in the near future. Unless you decide to move to Tibet, don the red gown, and become his devotee. Thurman, who the New York Times Magazine called "The Dalai Lama's man in America," will be reading from his book, Why the Dalai Lama Matters: His Act of Truth as the Solution For China, Tibet, and the World tonight.

THE TING TINGS: So you wanna boogie, stomp your feet, and clap your hands? The freaking Ting Tings are in town! Few things could drag Seattlest out of this Junuary funk we're in, but we're thinking maybe the Ting Tings at Chop Suey could do the trick. If you're unfamiliar, this is the kind of music that makes us dance like a silly uncoordinated white girl, which is just the kind of pop music we love. We're already tied to Avenue Q tonight, but perhaps you can go party for us, and let us know how it went. Hopefully they'll come back to this side of the Atlantic sometime soon, though, before tickets to their shows skyrocket to $50/pop.
