?uestlove, King Of Cool

?uestlove and Black Thought of The Roots completely rocked it last night at Neumos. The DJ's set was fully loaded with hiphop and funk classics, aimed straight at the heart of the crowd's collective groove, and Black Thought's aggressive, wild voice is a pleasure to experience live. How could you not dance? One guy was so excited he was jumping up and down. (Not hopping, not bouncing. Jumping!)

All in all, a night of dancing, great beats and good company. Black Thought did some songs from The Roots' new album, Rising Down, and some older material; ?uestlove's most stoic face occasionally broke into sly smiles when the beat was exceptionally satisfying. We left with our soul intact and happily sated.

Of course, this morning we woke up feeling the need to listen to Rising Down yet again, and in honor of that, here is the title track (featuring Wale and Chrisette Michele) and its accompanying music video. Happy listening!

I was dancing right next to that guy who was jumping! He didn't stop for seemingly the entire show! What a great freaking time!

Thanks for coming, Seattlest!

Have a great weekend,

Glad they brought it at Neumos because they phoned it in at Marymoor. LAME! Worst Roots show I have ever seen. Badu more than made up for it though! Girl is HOT!

Yeah I heard their set was not awesome. And they... started early or something? I still wish I had been able to go.

They went on 2o mins before the scheduled time. So many true fans missed their set. It was such a bummer. Props to the tuba player though! And, honestly, Badu was on fire!

I hope I'm not the only one that was underwhelmed by Rising Down.
