Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Flaming Lips Honor The Who

If your squeezed-by-gas-and-groceries-and-“strip club” budget doesn’t cover flying east this month to catch Pearl Jam at Bonnaroo or Madison Square Garden, may we suggest a cheaper, closer, and more summer-vacation-y alternative: VH1’s Rock Honors show in Los Angeles on July 12.

For as little as $65 (plus fees, duh), you can see Pearl Jam live. And Foo Fighters. And The Flaming Lips. And The effing Who. And possibly see your raised fists on TV a few days later. All in a city where summer means sunshine.

Per the announcement on pearljam.com:

For the first time ever, fans will have the opportunity to see some of the biggest names in rock together on one stage as tickets go on sale for the network's third annual "VH1 Rock Honors" event paying homage to legendary British rock band The Who. "VH1 Rock Honors: The Who" will be taped on Saturday, July 12 from the Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles and will premiere on VH1 on Thursday, July 17.
The show’s (obviously) a guaranteed sellout, but fans of the appearing bands—real fans—have a decent shot at face-value tickets.
On Friday, June 6, pre-sale tickets will go on sale to WHOLIGANS, members of The Who Fan Club (thewho.com). On Saturday, June 7, pre-sale tickets will be available to members of The Ten Club, (pearljam.com) and to the Foo Fighters fan club (foofighters.com). The general public on-sale will begin on Sunday, June 8 at 10:00AM (PDT). Tickets will be priced at $300, $125 and $65, not including applicable service charges, via www.ticketmaster.com and at all Ticketmaster outlets or by calling 213-480-3232...
Someone please go—and report to Seattlest when you return. We’ll be stuck here, writing vows, getting our suit pressed, choosing ceremony songs, and fretting about explosive aunt vs. ex-uncle rivalries. Stupid love, always screwing up the calendar.

Since my favorite 2 bands are The Who and Pearl Jam I sort of have to go. Then flying back for Green River the next day. Oh, and also going to 4 of those East Coast Pearl Jam shows. It will be an eventful but financially damaging summer.
