What's Cookin': Joule's Urban BBQ Series

Starting this Sunday, Joule restaurant is transforming its dining room into a walk-in backyard for its Urban BBQ Series. To help celebrate the summer, every Sunday through mid-August, chef/owners Rachel Yang and Seif Chirchi have planned a different theme (we especially like the sound of “Food on a Stick” and “Dreaming of Pigs”) that will offer a variety of grilled dishes.

For example, this Sunday is "Operation Clam Bake," featuring oysters on the half shell, clams, and mussels from Taylor Shellfish Farms (along with corn, sausage, and shrimp). The following week is "Let’s Talk about Goat" (with goat from Toboton Creek Ranch), and down the line we’re looking forward to such things as yakitori, chicken liver mousse popsicles, crisp fried pork belly, and more.

Chef Rachel told us she sees this as a family affair, hoping that people will pop in throughout the afternoon and early evening to snack, sip, and soak in the sounds of some live jazz (2-4 p.m.). She’s also planning to serve snow cones and cotton candy with a twist—sure to make this a destination dining experience for kids of all ages!

Sundays through 8/17, 12-8 p.m. // Joule, 1913 North 45th Street // $3-12 per item
