Can't Miss It: Weekend Edition, May 30-June 1

NOT REINVENTING THE WHEEL: If you're considering quitting your corporate job--you know, the one with benefits and a customer lunch expense account--to build your own business from the ground up, you're crazy. Have you read the financial pages in the newspapers of late? Sometimes, however, it takes exactly that edge of craziness to make your dreams come true. In that case, let us direct you to the Six Hour Start-Up Conference this weekend. Your bucks buy you lunch and eight hours of practical information about how to go from your Jump To Conclusions Mat Amazing Product Idea to a Viable Business.

10 a.m - 6 p.m., Saturday // Columbia City Theater, 4916 Rainier Ave. S // $99, pre-registration required

LIVING LEGEND AND FASHION ICON: Seattlest's experience with fashion has thus far been limited to the slightly campy and the televised. Tonight, the NWFF begins a series of documentaries (the original reality tv) on true high fashion icons such as Yves St. Laurent, Marc Jacobs, and Louis Vuitton. That means that for $25, you and Seattlest could gain five nights of big-screen insight into what it feels like to be rich and famous. And learning a little something about classiness in the process? Priceless! "PRET-A-FILMER: A Week Of Fashion Films" kicks off with a doc on Karl Lagerfield at 7 p.m. and an opening night party at 9 p.m.

May 30-June 5, showtimes vary // Northwest Film Forum, 1515 12th Ave. // $25 for series pass, $8.50 individual nights. Members receive discount.

POWER PLAY, INTERNATIONAL EDITION: It's Brazil versus Canada at Qwest Field this weekend, and the two soccer teams are planning on bringing out their best players in preparation for the World Cup qualifying showdowns later this spring. That means you can expect to see players such as the Brazilian Kaká, 2007's FIFA World Player Of The Year, busting moves on the green and looking great while doing it. We've never been to Brazil, but we have been to Canada, and based on our experiences and photos from National Geographic, we predict Brazil will win this match.

7:30 p.m., Saturday // Qwest Field // Ticketmaster, $35-$125

HIGH HEELS GO WITH EVERYTHING: What better way to see the Sex And The City movie, opening in Seattle this weekend, than at the new Columbia City Cinema on Sunday after the rush has died down a little? You can eat the tres delicious house-made popcorn, or what have you, while you observe Sarah Jessica Parker & Co. do their mating rituals. That is a recipe for a very good time. We've also been alerted to a SATC night at Boom Noodle this Friday evening, with $4 themed cocktails and episodes playing on the walls throughout the restaurant. (Get the okonomiyaki with your Flirtini... you heard it here.)

Movie // 1 p.m., 4 p.m., 7 p.m., Sunday // Columbia City Cinema, 4816 Rainier Ave. S // $8
Boom Noodle SATC Night // 4 p.m. to close, Friday // Boom Noodle, 1121 E. Pike St

Kaka is having surgery and is not in the team for the friendly against Canada.

Oh no! My sources (NWSource and the Sounders FC site, natch) have failed me. Thanks for the update.

Kaka is super cute, regardless.

Anyone else injured/out of commission for the game tonight?
