"rainbow power" by thedistantatlantic
We're sure it's been said before, but it begs repeating--Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips is an angel. Sent from the heavens, he was, with a pink shirt and something to say. During last Monday's Sasquatch! performance, Coyne spoke of peace, of love, and of the crucial need for all of us to get off our collective ass and fix our country. This was our first time seeing the Lips. It was a show for the ages and easily one of the top two shows we've ever seen. Looking for more Sasquatch! photos? Check out our Seattlest Flickr Pool.
such an amazing show! it was my first time seeing them also and for their over the top set and fantastical performance style, wayne coyne was so refreshingly down to earth and connected with the crowd. surprising, but appreciated and awesome.
I agree, ozmafan. I was impressed that Coyne was out there helping set up, strolling around, talking to the crowd before the show even started.
After Monday, I think I can say with at least some certainty that Wayne Coyne is as close to the second coming of Jesus as the human race is going to get. And I'm inclined to say that's not so bad.
I saw the Lips in summer 2006 at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta. They did a show that looked pretty much exactly like this, and from all the coverage of the Sasquatch! show, was pretty much exactly like this. Don't get me wrong--I had a great time and it was WILDY! entertaining; it's actually my favorite show I've ever been to. BUT, two years later... think Wayne would have moved on from the giant plastic human-ball?
