Random E-mail of the Day
This arrived in our in-box while we were in transit today. The author is a friend of Seattlest who's recently completed his Ph.D. at the University of Washington and is moving to Washington, D.C. in a month and some to take up a prominent position at a major U.S. government agency. He is, apparently, bored.
Hey All,Don't ask how this got started, but after a long discussion with a bunch of students and a fair amount of research (on my own, subsequently), I created a list of the 10 most attractive women to ever marry a president. Now some of them weren't first ladies officially since they died before their husband took office, but we're not splitting that hair. Why am I sending this to you guys? Because it is utterly random,....and I think you'd provide the most amusing feedback.
1. Jackie Kennedy (of course duh!)2. Betty Ford (had the big hair of the 70's, but not a bad one)
3. Ellen Herndon Arthur (Going real old school for this one, but quite a looker. Definitely surprised me the most.)
4. Frances Folsom Cleveland (youngest first lady ever at 21, Grover loved the young'ns)
5. Hannah Hoes van Buren (married her first cousin Pres. Martin van Buren but died before he became president. First cousin,...crrrrreeepy)
6. Laura Bush (Got to give credit where it's due, Laura's kept her looks pretty sharp.)
7. Dolley Payne Madison (again an old school one. And one where I actually had to check 2 or 3 times to make sure I was right in including her.)
8. Nancy Davis Reagan (Granted, not a fan of the big time hairstyle, but other than that, she kept it all in shape)
9. Louisa Catherine Adams (her Wikipedia picture has too much stuff in her hair and face, try this one)
10. Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt (very hit or miss depending on the photo but I think this one does her justice)
Honorable mention to Rosalynn Carter who was basically hit or miss with Dolley Madison.Yes, I officially ran out of things to do.
That's all well and good, but we have to point out: no world leader, nor their wife, is as hot as Ukraine's PM Yulia Tymoshenko. America ain't got everything.
