Can't Miss It: Weekend Edition, May 23-25

OPERATION BRIGHT PINK FLAMINGO: If you were at Myrtle Edwards Park last weekend, you may have noticed a city-approved flock of plastic flamingos hanging out on the lawns. Lest you prematurely begin the spiral into "WTF, can't we just have normal public art," let us inform you that the flamingos were only visiting to remind everyone that real Chilean flamingos are available as of tomorrow to gawk at over in the Woodland Park Zoo. There will be free mini-cupcakes, music, and stilt-walking at the Zoo to mark the opening of the summer exhibit.
9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday // Woodland Park Zoo, 50th and Fremont Ave. N // $15 adults, $10 kids

FESTIVAL!: Northwest Folklife begins today at the Seattle Center. The "ethnic extravaganza" (their words) of arts, crafts, music, and scrumptious street food has an Urban Indians theme this year, which means Tulalip Indian rappers will perform. At least one anyway, and that's on Saturday. Here's the four-day schedule; food vendors include Mighty O's, Southern Kitchen (yum), and ample offerings from African, Middle Eastern, and Asian cuisine.
11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday through Monday // Seattle Center // $10 suggested daily donation
SUNDAYS ARE FOR MUSIC: French, richly moody (yet pleasingly detached) electronica darlings M83 released their new album, Saturdays=Youth, on Tax Day last month, and they'll be performing new and old material at Neumos on Sunday. But because sometimes difficult choices must be made, we'll personally be at Chop Suey that night taking in one of the most inspiring independent hiphop line-ups we've seen this spring: One Be Lo, Blu, Macklemore, and The Physics. Either way, Sunday's a great day for music.
M83 // 8 p.m., Sunday // Neumos, 925 E Pike St. // $12adv // 21+
One Be Lo // 8 p.m., Sunday // Chop Suey, 1325 E. Madison // $10adv // All Ages
