The man Seattle police simply call "the groper" has attacked another woman in South Seattle. The serial sexual assaulter grabbed an Asian-American woman who was walking with a toddler on Saturday morning in the 7500 block of Renton Avenue South. The victim screamed, drawing the attention of several witnesses, including one who tried to take a photo of the attacker's car and license plate with a cell phone camera. For his efforts, the good Samaritan was charged by the attacker, pushed to the ground, and his cell phone was stolen. While the groper's attention was on the good Samaritan as he ran away, the victim of the assault also fled the scene and has not been located by police.
Despite having no account from the victim and losing the photos of the attacker's car, police were still able to gather more information than ever before about the groper. According to police, the attacker fled the scene of his latest attack in a 1994 Jeep Cherokee. Witnesses were also able to give police the most detailed description of the attacker to date. The police's updated description of the attacker: a black man, about 5'10, with "light-colored shaving bumps on the left side of his face."
This Saturday's attack was just the latest of nearly two dozen assaults upon Asian women attributed to the same suspect over the past two years. Victims have ranged from teenagers to women in their 50s. Seattle Police hope that the more detailed description brings forward new information about the suspect, information we all hope leads to a speedy arrest.
